About us:

FSJ Canine Behaviour is a Fort St John based business offering canine training through positive reinforcement.

Offering both private sessions and group classes for dogs of any age. Personalized training plans, flexible scheduling and comprehensive homework is provided with private sessions that can either take place within the comforts of your home or at our training facility. Group classes are held primarily in the evenings to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules. Classes are capped at 5 dog/handler teams allowing adequate time and space for learning.

Our mission is provide you with the knowledge, skills and support to further your training at any time. We focus on the how, what, and whys of training versus strict obedience. Understanding each and every behaviour and cue that is taught is crucial for developing a life long bond with your dog.

Who we Are:

Shalise Schroeder (Clark) RVT, CBST, FFCP is the owner and sole trainer at FSJ Canine Behaviour. Shalise has a diploma in Canine Behaviour from the Companion Animal Institution in addition to being a Registered Veterinary Technician with 12 years in the animal industry and 6 years of experience with professional dog training. She is also a member of the IAABC and is certified through Fear Free Pets

Using positive reinforcement and force free training methods Shalise has worked with a variety of behavioural concerns. Prioritizing the education of why these behaviours are occurring and working along side the owner to make life long changes.

Private Consultations

Private consultations are designed to meet your personalized goals. After filling out a detailed questionnaire I get to work preparing a personalized training plan for you, we work together to create a training plan that fits into your lifestyle.

Private sessions are perfect for those who work best in a quiet uninterrupted environments. These sessions can either take place within your home, public outdoor space or at our indoor facility.

Some of the many benefits of private sessions include but are not limited too:

  • Direct guidance from trainer.

  • Working on in home concerns such as: barking, door dashing, counter surfing, resource guarding.

  • Allows for multiple pets in home to be trained.

Take and Train Program

Basic obedience/ General skills: 4-6 session packages 

Take and Trains are great for the busy person who would like their dog to learn new skills, continue working on previously learned cues or just get out of the house and work their body and mind. I will pick up your dog for a one hour session 1-2x per week, I will safely transport your dog to my training facility or to an outdoor location (depending on training plan) and work with your dog according to a training plan we set up together beforehand. You will receive video footage from our session as well as weekly written progress reports with details on how to continue this learning at home.

Take and trains can be utilized for :

  • Puppy manors.

  • Basic or advanced obedience skills.

  • Leash/ walking skills.

  • Intro to agility, body awareness exercises and training games.

  • So much more!

  • Fully personalized plans are available.

  • Leash reactivity (Prior sessions with owner are required)
